What is a beard transplant?
transplante de barba?

A beard transplant involves harvesting healthy hair follicular units from the posterior or lateral regions of the scalp and implanting them into the beard area to enhance density or fill in gaps. This procedure is particularly beneficial for individuals with patchy or sparse beards due to genetic factors, scarring, or other conditions.

It is important to highlight that facial hair differs from scalp hair in thickness and structure. Beard hairs are generally coarser, thicker, and contain more cuticle layers, with a diameter approximately twice that of scalp hair. Furthermore, while scalp hair follicles may contain one to four hairs, facial hair follicles often vary in their composition, requiring careful planning and graft harvesting to achieve natural and harmonious results. os folículos faciais apresentam maior variabilidade, exigindo um planeamento rigoroso e uma extração cuidadosa dos enxertos, de modo a alcançar resultados naturais e harmoniosos.

Beard transplant process

At Insparya, we apply the same high standards to Beard Transplants as we do to Hair Transplants or Eyebrow Transplants, utilizing the exclusive Insparya Method®. This advanced technique involves harvesting follicular units containing one or two hairs using our cutting-edge BotHair UltraPlus® Insparya technology.

The number of follicular units required depends on the specific recipient area – whether it be the beard, mustache, cheeks, sideburns, or a combination of these. This amount is carefully determined based on the patient’s facial structure and morphology, ensuring a tailored and natural-looking result. In most cases, the procedure is completed in a single session.

The process begins with shaving the donor area to facilitate the precise extraction of follicular units. To ensure complete patient comfort, local anesthesia is administered, making the procedure entirely painless. Each follicular unit is then delicately extracted, aspirated, and stored in a single step with meticulous care, all thanks to the advanced BotHair UltraPlus® Insparya.

Once extracted, the follicular units are implanted one by one into the designated area. Using our exclusive Insparya Method®, incisions no larger than 1 mm are made in the recipient area, always taking into account the natural growth direction of the beard and mustache hair. This crucial step ensures a harmonious and natural appearance post.

Post-procedure

Following a beard transplant, recovery is typically swift, allowing patients to resume their normal activities shortly after the procedure. However, adhering to specific post-transplant care guidelines is crucial to ensure the success of the transplant and the health of the implanted follicles.tina normal poucos dias após o procedimento. No entanto, é fundamental seguir as orientações clínicas para garantir o sucesso do transplante.

Hydration In the first few days, it’s essential to keep the recipient area hydrated as directed by your specialist.

Avoiding Contact and Friction: Protect the transplanted area from rubbing or friction, especially from clothing or hands, to prevent damage to the newly implanted follicles.

Sun Exposure: Refrain from prolonged sun exposure during the initial days post-procedure to protect the sensitive recipient area.

Proper Hygiene: Follow your specialist’s instructions regarding the gentle cleansing of the transplanted area, using recommended products to maintain cleanliness without causing irritation.

Scab Formation: It’s normal for small scabs to form in the recipient area; they typically fall off naturally. Avoid scratching or picking at these scabs to ensure proper healing.

Physical Activities : Wait for the period recommended by your specialist before resuming intense physical exercises or activities that may cause excessive sweating.

Initial Shaving: Before undertaking your first shave, ensure that the area and follicular units have fully healed. Follow your specialist’s advice on when it’s appropriate to resume shaving to avoid compromising the transplant results.

Hair Growth: It’s common for the transplanted hairs to shed within the first few weeks – a process known as “shock loss.” Permanent growth usually begins in the following weeks, with more noticeable results over time. também conhecida como “shock loss”.
