What is a beard transplant procedure like?

At Insparya, we use the FUE technique that we also use for other hair transplants.

The necessary individual follicular units for a beard transplant are extracted in the exact same way as those for a scalp hair transplant, using the most modern extraction and implantation device, Insparya Dual Extraction Device, which offers a natural result without scars.

First, the donor area is shaved, as in a scalp hair procedure. This facilitates follicular unit extraction. Then, local anesthesia is administered so that the extraction is completely painless.

After that, the clinical team extracts the follicular units from the back of the head. As you can see, the steps are very similar to those of a hair transplant surgery. Once all the follicular units have been extracted, the team gets ready for inserting them. The follicular units are carefully grafted one by one, taking into account the direction of the beard and mustache hair. This is very important for the final result to look completely natural.

Hair implantation in the area of the beard requires a team with extensive experience in this type of transplant; otherwise, results are not optimal. Beard skin requires special treatment and specific care after the transplant that can only be performed by specialized staff.

Beard transplant is recommended to correct bald spots and imperfections. Each situation is different, so we recommend an appointment in person. Insparya is a clinic specialized in beard transplants and we count on a highly experienced team of doctors and nurses for every procedure. Nowadays, not having a beard is not a problem anymore.

What is the postoperative stage of beard transplant like?

After the procedure, you can go on with your normal life. The postoperative care during the first days is a little simpler than that of hair transplants. In fact, the postoperative care required by beard transplant only takes 10 days.

Just 10-day postoperative care.

The first 10 days, you will have to apply betadine and avoid direct sun in the recipient area. It is also very important that during the first days you do not rub your beard very much to avoid damaging the follicles implanted. After these ten days, you will only need to wash with hypoallergenic soap. You should not trim your beard either until your doctor says so, since you could damage transplanted units.

The first days, the recipient area may itch, but this is normal. You have to keep in mind that you cannot remove the scabs formed after the surgery at any time. In about a week, they will start falling by themselves.

As to shaving, it is important to let the area and the follicular units to be fully adapted, so it is better not to shave completely until your doctor tells you.

What are the results of beard transplant?

Hair transplant techniques have been perfected and now transplanted facial hair looks natural. Beard transplant, like eyebrow transplants, have become a procedure almost as popular as hair grafting because the results are usually excellent. However, the objective is to improve the final aspect of the beard, sometimes in a limited and conservative way and sometimes more significantly.

Not long ago, it was impossible to think we could make a follicular unit transplant in the beard but nowadays it is possible and the best results are guaranteed. Hair loss or absence in the beard may affect in the same way as scalp hair loss, so it is an essential aesthetic element to preserve facial harmony in men.

Beard transplant price

In general, the price of beard transplant is lower than the price of a hair transplant. The reason is that usually less follicular units are necessary to cover the recipient area than in the case of the head.

How long does it take for the beard to grow?

There is no exact formula to determine how fast the beard will grow. It depends on each person, as it happens with scalp hair. But we can say that the beard, whether grafted or not, grows on average 1.25 cm a month. As it happens with scalp hair, the longer it is, the longer it takes to grow. Growth speed slows down with time. But, in general, we can say that the beard grows about 12 cm a year. And what factors determine the beard’s growth speed? The main factors are genetics and testosterone levels. Therefore, if you are not genetically programmed to have a thick beard, the most effective solution is a beard transplant. A transplant will give you the beard you have always wanted.
